How To Create A Website And Why It's a 'Must Have'!

how to create a website Jan 06, 2021

Wondering how to create a website?  Questioning if you even need one?

Here's a fact, Jack...around 40% of the world population has an internet connection today.  That’s over 3 billion people. In 1995, it was less than 1%.

The number of internet users has increased tenfold from 1999 to 2013.

The first billion was reached in 2005. The second billion in 2010. The third billion in 2014.

The rate of internet expansion is tremendous, and its not going to slow down.

What does this mean for you?

It means there has never been a time in history when its been so easy to get eyeballs on your Brand!

Just 20 years ago you’d be stuck having a physical store or office location.  Now your business can be lean and mean and online.

A website is a must have because your future Guests (remember this is the term we use instead of customer or client) will always use the internet to find you.

Aferall, who uses the Yellow Pages anymore?  Long story short, if you don’t have a strong online presence you don’t exist.  Other Brands will take your Guests away.

Think of your Website as your online store.  If you’re not selling anything (some businesses have sites only to make it easy for people to find out more about them including their bio and contact info) then think of your Website as a business card or billboard.

Have you ever tried to Google someone, or a business, and you couldn’t find them online?

What did you think about them?

You probably shrugged them off ‘I guess they’re not legit’.

Unfortunately this is how your potential Guests will think about you and your Brand.  If they can’t find you online (and like what they see) then you lost that sale.  Some other Brand snatched them up!

For this reason its vital that you have a well planned, professional site.

You don’t need to spend tens of thousands so your site is the most amazing work of art.  But you do need to put enough time into making your site tell your Brand Story and present you as a true professional.

If your site doesn’t offer the info your Audience is looking for, or is confusing, or looks like it hasn’t been updated in 10 years - you’re done!

You don’t get a second chance.

Think of your site like your Brand’s hub.  It’s the center of your online universe.  All your Social Media Channels will link to your site, and your site will be where your Audience can find out all the necessary info they need in order to decide if they know, like and trust you.

Once you have your site established, it’s very easy to make regular updates to keep it fresh.

Now that you know why you need a website, how is it different than a blog?

Here is the definition of a blog:

“A regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style.”

Basically a blog is website where the owners of the site, or writers they hire, constantly post content.

It’s the modern equivalent of a small town newspaper.  But now the ‘small town’ can be anyone in the world.

A blog is a great way to unify your Audience into a community and tell them the stories they want to hear.

Here at the Visionary Planner we’re committed to helping you know the special structure that makes a site great.  This includes being clear on your site’s purpose and how it can help your Brand generate revenue.  Once you set your site up to communicate your Brand Story and link it out to all your Treasures (your products and services) then you’ll need a blog.  This blog will be consistently posting amazing content that attracts your Audience and keeps them engaged.  When they’re engaged they’re much more likely to buy your Treasures.

But none of that happens if you don’t have a site you’re proud of.

So what are you waiting for?
